Slight Time Extension…
So I’m sick as balls right now because I made the foolish decision to get too excited/nervous about the launch today and not sleep right/at all. Barely ate anything yesterday either, super-smart of me there too. Which led me to oversleep today, still feeling sick, and still without fully packaging the demo the way I want for release.
(Basically, I want to release the game without all its assets/script laying out where anybody can access/read them, which isn’t the state it’s in right now. I only knew how to pack it down open-source, but researching how to fix that and making sure I’m doing it all correctly is something I foolishly put off until today, and I’m now a sweaty, achy mess and can’t focus on it.)
So I’m giving myself one more day to be 100% happy with the release. It’ll be back to going up at 12 PM tomorrow, if not earlier, and I’ve now added four more choices to the game script to make up for the 1-day delay. (Yes, they’re already coded in, had been planning to boost up those scenes this weekend.) Consider this a “Please Wait” splash page of sorts for the now-finished countdown, I guess. My nerves and wonky time management are to blame for this, so I’m going to compensate for both of those in the next 24 hours with bedrest and that extra demo content. :)
Now I’ma drink some fluids and take me a nap. See you tomorrow!

The first half of the demo for Lovely Little Thieves is out! It’s adorable scooby-doo-meets-breakfast-club-meets-horror-movie fun! GO PLAY IT~!

Lovely Little Thieves Launch COUNTDOWN!

After hours and hours of blood sweat n’ fears, the demo of Lovely Little Thieves is finally ready for launch! 72 hours from now (Tuesday 12 PM PST), I’ll post the download link right here on this tumblr, but I wanted to allow some lead-up time to let everyone know it was finally done and when to expect it, since there’s been some radio silence on my end for a few weeks while I slave over the thing. (You’ll be getting 2 hours of gameplay, 40 choices, and a TON of constantly changing facial animation and sprite interactions.)

In the three days leading up to release, I’ll post screenshots of the game as a little teaser. The kickstarter for the game will launch just two days after the demo does, so please do get the word out about the game to anyone you think might be interested! I’m super-stoked about this project and I hope you guys have as much fun playing it as I did making it! :D

I’ve been a fan of Hope Chapman’s reviews and such for awhile now and I’m super psyched about her visual novel game that’s in the works. I’ll be playing the Lovely Little Thieves demo, YOU SHOULD TOO!!

A few tips everybody should consider. I’ve experienced all those and some more. I’m not good at english but I hope you get it. Go and support some artists out there and let them draw you nice shit. Not as nice as FairyNekoDesu but still will be cool so give them a chance and you’ll be surprised.

THIIIIS.

All of these things.

Especially the deadline. If you don’t have a deadline thats way in advanced it’s not gonna get done by then. I am almost always taking on a ton of projects at once and sometimes need a break from it to: work on stuff for me, work on stuff for friends, search for jobs, be the work slave of parents, actually relax and try to relief stress, technical difficulties, researching on how to do stuff, ect.

Sometimes it’s done in a day. Sometimes it’s done literally a year later. But I always update the people I work with so they know I haven’t forgotten.

Do NOT rush your commissioner. Let them work at their pace and it will be worth it. Rushing them insures a rush job which will very likely make the quality decline.

All this is true. Also, ref sheets are the most important thing ever. I can’t stress that enough. They make the job A LOT easier (instead of having to compare 10 different pics between each other and see that everything fits, you just look at 1!!)  If you plan in commissioning your character a lot, or even if its not yours (like from an anime or something) Either commission one or look for ref sheets of the show (because there are!).

Also i strongly suggest not using Instant Messaging. Information can be lost pretty easily there and it’s hard to come back to it. Use emails instead. The info stays there, and it’s easy to search for it. It’s also an excellent way to keep track of the descriptions, so if either the client or artist made a mistake, you can see the email threads and see who’s right straight away.

also pushy clients LOVE instant messaging. Pls no.

This post is really nice! :D
